I disliked this book intensely. The suggested exercises are worthwhile, which is the only reason I gave it two stars. Skip the new agey preaching. Just go to the end of each section and do the exercises. What's really weird is that the author presents two versions of another author's story. She maintains that the second version is better. It's not. It's awful. I guess the writer of the two samples thought so, too. The copyright information is attached to the "inferior" version. It stopped me cold. I lost all desire to finish the book. As a writer I search for people who inspire me to do more than I think is possible. I want to believe that I can write something, anything that someone else will want to read. More often than not I doubt whether that is possible. After reading Wild Mind I believe I can do it. I believe I can write a novel or an essay or an article that others will want to read. Ms. Goldberg inspired me. She inspires many. That is the beauty of her book.
